LeShun Smith

Today, an Associate’s Degree. Later this year, a Bachelor of Science Degree from Northwestern University. After recently filing my Executive Clemency Petition, hopefully soon I’ll be able to call myself a free man. The way I see it, if freedom is on the horizon I need to connect with some good people. If I find a good woman in the process then I’m doubly blessed.

A bit about myself. At 19 I was convicted of a crime I didn’t commit. I’ve now spent over half of my life in prison and far too many times I’ve had to sit back and watch myself be abandoned by family, friends, and time. This all happened in slow motion, so you can imagine the emotional toll it has taken. But after some time in self-discovery, informal and formal education, I mustered up the strength to reclaim my identity and my humanity. Now I am a man of principle and integrity, a man who knows to keep God first, a man who believes in and practices restorative justice, and most of all a man who understands the value of the right relationship, whether that’s family, friendship, something romantic, our communities, or otherwise.

I’ve reached a point where I believe life is too short not to share yourself with someone or build a community with good people. So this is me reaching my hand out. You can reach back by contacting me via ConnectNetwork.com or whatever platform is available.
Hope to hear from you soon.
