To whoever is reading this, please keep an open mind. As you know I am in prison, so sit back, “walk a mile in my shoes”, take a journey through my mind so you could find things I try to hide. So fasten your seat belt and enjoy the ride. Whether you like my words or what, I invite everyone to respond; I’m human and my feelings hurt just like anyone else.
Friends, family and society at large sometimes forget about us, and in the mist of being incarcerated for the last 23 years (1994-2017) loneliness and boredom captured my soul, like it did many others here, yet I stood tall through it all. This journey through hell will end in 2023, and I thank God it’s almost over. My dreams have been on hold for so long and with freedom approaching fast I’m finalizing my plans for the future. I want to open a shelter called “Battered Not Broken” to help women trapped, or who’ve been, in violent domestic situations. I’m also passionate about talking to the kids in my hood about living a productive life, and not walk a mile in my shoes, “quote unquote’.
Looking back I regret not giving myself a chance in life. Failing to plan ahead has been my downfall, like I planed to fail. Now I plan to succeed!
Thanks for listening and taking the time to walk a mile in my shoes.
