REACHING OUT

Orlando Ames
This is my invitation to anyone that whishes to establish a positive foundation of friendship with an intelligent, outgoing, open-minded and caring man with a warm heart and great sense of humor. In this journey of life, I'm a good man striving to be a great man, and in my journey I have come to learn that no man can be or remain an island onto himself.
So now I'm stepping outside of my comfort zone and taking this opportunity to reach out the hand of friendship with the hope that it is grasped in return. I know that reaching out can be difficult but so is talking to a stranger for the first time, yet we do it everyday with the same nervous anticipation as a response in the mail from someone you've never met.
We've all created thick shells to protect ourselves from the world, yet we still long for the touch of another, to hold and to be held, to share a laugh or a smile.
Reaching out can leave you vulnerable, but only in the sense of exposing you to something new, so you have to let go of that fear if only of a moment, which is the time it takes to cover that short distance that seems so far away. You go from strangers to friends.
However, none of this can be accomplished if you don't reach out.
