Starting Over

It comes a time in everyone’s life when things go wrong and you wish you could start all over again, whether it’s something small like the time you couldn’t find your car keys and you were running late for work. (Sounds familiar?) Maybe it was the time you woke up in the middle of the night, stumbled your way down the hall into the bathroom, didn’t look before you sat and found out “someone left the seat up…again.” (That’s never good.) Or it could have been that “one time” remember, girls night, you had, oh, 10 too many drinks and now for some strange reason your girls won’t return your calls and it’s making you crazy because you still can’t remember how you ended up in Mexico, with the name “DEAN” tattooed across your back. (Who’s Dean?!)

It could mean needing a change after a bad relationship, or just saying “sorry” to a close friend whose feelings you hurt, or wishing you kept your mouth shut, after you told your boss how you really felt about him…the day before the cheap skate handed out holiday bonuses….

Everyone’s reasons for starting over are different, mine are more complex than others. For me it was first realizing my life was out of order, I needed to change, I thought I had all the answers, and I didn’t need anyone. I pushed people away, I was wrong. I do need people, and nobody has all the answers and most important no matter what wrongs we’ve done yesterday we can still start over today.
